A man attempted to shoot Sukhbir Singh Badal, the president of the Shiromani Akali Dal and former deputy chief minister of Punjab, outside the Golden Temple in Amritsar on December 4, 2024. The incident occurred while Badal was performing religious punishment duties ordered by the Akal Takht for his role in past controversies. The attacker, identified as Narain Singh Chaura, reportedly a former militant, was quickly overpowered by bystanders before he could cause harm.
