Patiala: Today the teachers of Mohindra College went on strike by closing the main gate of the college and strongly protested against the government. The strike was against the disputed notice of the Higher Education Department, in which all the posts of guest faculty were considered vacant and instructions were given to recruit new teachers in their place.
In this notice issued by the Secretary of the Higher Education Department, Kamal Kishore Yadav, it was said that the guest faculty members are not working, so they should be recruited in their place. New teachers were recruited during the night from 10 pm to 3 am on Saturday and Sunday in more than 65 colleges of Punjab, causing deep anger among the guest faculty members.
Many of the guest faculty have been serving for more than 15 to 20 years, and are upset by the news of their removal. The teachers say that during the elections, their demands were placed before Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann to make them permanent and fill up the vacant posts, but no concrete steps have been taken so far.
